A New York federal judge on Wednesday signed off on a request for $100 million in fees and costs from the attorneys representing a class of purchasers who accused airlines of fixing cargo prices and gave final approval on settlements involving Air China, Air India and other carriers.

Freight Forwarder Users Excluded From Air Cargo Settlements
Companies including DuPont and Sears cannot collect money from a series of antitrust settlements between airlines and direct purchasers of air cargo shipping services because they bought their services through freight forwarders, making them indirect purchasers under the settlements, a New York federal judge has ruled.

Brooklyn U.S. District Judge Brian M. Cogan gave final approval Thursday to $190 million worth of settlements in litigation over customer claims that airlines conspired to raise the price for cargo shipments, releasing Nippon Cargo Airlines, EVA Airways Corp. and Asiana Airlines Inc. from the decade-old litigation.
