Lowe's Pays $2.2M To Settle Applicant Background Check Suit
A North Carolina federal judge on Tuesday gave final approval to a $2.2 million settlement to compensate a class of prospective Lowe's employees passed over for positions with the company because of information contained in background checks run by the retailer, in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
