    Real estate investment trust JER Investors Trust Inc. has filed for Chapter 11 protection in Delaware bankruptcy court, saying after losing nearly $1.25 billion in mortgage-backed securities investments it will use recently raised cash to partially pay off its nearly $114 million in debt.
