Law360 Canada (July 3, 2024, 1:06 PM EDT) -- Action by Ferweda against Mercer Celgar Limited Partnership (“Celgar”) for termination of his employment without cause. Ferweda was employed by Celgar for less than two and a half years as an operations specialist in a pulp mill owned and operated by Celgar. Before working with Celgar, he held a similar position at a pulp mill owned by Catalyst Paper Corporation ("Catalyst") where he worked for 27 years. Celgar paid Ferweda the equivalent of five months’ salary in lieu of notice. Ferweda sought a lengthier period based on his claim that Celgar induced him to leave his employment with Catalyst....
