It was opened in 1832 to house Ontario’s Law Society as well as its law school. John Ewart and William Warren Baldwin designed the original building, which was built between 1829 and 1832, in the late Georgian Paladin and Neoclassical styles. The building was then expanded in 1844, and in 1846, the court space was added. Today it is a national historical site and is considered one of Canada’s greatest examples of Victorian classical architecture.
