Federal Court upholds $104,082 penalty against CN for track safety violations
The Federal Court has upheld a $104,082 penalty imposed on Canadian National Railway Company (CN) for defective railroad ties and missing bolts, ruling that the Transportation Appeal Tribunal did not need to specify a standard of care when rejecting CN’s due diligence defence.

The British Columbia Securities Commission (the "Commission") issued an investigation order.
