The federal government's credit union watchdog on Friday said that the total value of a previously announced settlement with a UBS AG unit over the sales of faulty mortgage-backed securities would balloon to around $69.8 million with the addition of prejudgment interest to the initial deal.

A UBS AG unit will pay more than $33 million to settle claims by the National Credit Union Association that it lied on offering documents for residential mortgage-backed securities, according to an offer of judgment filed Thursday in New York federal court.
