7th Circ. Says Courts With No Jurisdiction Must Mull Transfer
A Seventh Circuit panel ruled Monday that federal courts that find they lack jurisdiction have a limited obligation to consider whether to transfer a case even if neither party requests it, but said an attorney's delay in pursuing transfer of his dismissed Illinois breach of contract suit doomed his chances for remand.

The Federal Circuit on Monday ordered the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board to reconsider a ruling that "Guild Mortgage Company" is confusingly similar to "Guild Investment Management," pointing to evidence that the two names have peacefully coexisted for decades.
