Denmark is extending payment deadlines for value-added and withholding taxes to help companies facing difficulties related to the growing coronavirus crisis, the Ministry of Finance has said.

Large companies with sales of more than 50 million Danish kroner ($7.54 million) will be entitled to a 30-day VAT payment extension, the government said Tuesday in a notice. The extension will apply to payments due in March, April and May, the notice said

The extensions are being enacted in order to help companies increase the cash they have on hand in the coming months, the notice said.

Deadline extensions will also apply to withholding tax payments of Danish A-taxes, which are income taxes, and AM-contributions, which are employee benefit taxes.

On Wednesday, the number of people in Denmark confirmed to have been infected with the new coronavirus, or COVID-19, rose to 442, according to the Danish Patient Safety Authority, reflecting the growth of the virus globally.
