A news release announcing the extensions, issued Friday, followed the enactment of H.B. 197, signed that day by Republican Gov. Mike DeWine. That law allows the department to change the state income tax deadline from April 15 to July 15 in response to the global spread of the novel coronavirus, which causes the respiratory disease COVID-19.
Quarterly payments scheduled for April 15 and June 15 have also been extended to July 15, and penalties and interest will not apply to payments made ahead of the new deadline, according to the release.
