New York would suspend the assessment of fees on sales tax owed by small businesses during the novel coronavirus pandemic under a bill introduced in the state Senate.

S.B. 4513, which Sen. Diane Savino, D-Staten Island, introduced Friday, would suspend fee assessment, including interest and penalties, on sales tax payments for businesses with 20 or fewer full-time employees and $3 million or less in gross income until 90 days after the end of the declared state of emergency for the pandemic.

If enacted, the bill would take immediate effect.
