A man accused of obstructing justice by sending letters to and filing $100 billion worth of false liens against a pair of Illinois judges after his wife was sentenced to prison asked an Illinois court on Tuesday to toss the indictments against him, saying his actions failed to rise to the level of a true threat.

U.S. prosecutors on Monday asked a court to deny a motion to dismiss obstruction of justice charges claiming a defendant sent threatening letters to federal judges and filed $100 billion liens against them, saying he was attempting to influence a criminal tax case.

Chicago Man Indicted Over Phony $100B Liens Against Judges
A Chicago-area man was indicted Wednesday on charges that he threatened two federal judges with arrest and filed bogus $100 billion dollar liens against them and other officials in an attempt to get even for the 2010 conviction of his wife on tax fraud charges.
