Gay Marriage Ruling Didn't End Common-Law Case: Texas
The state of Texas on Tuesday told the state's high court that an Austin probate judge should rule on the validity of a claimed common-law same-sex marriage in a suit seeking half of a deceased woman's estate, saying that the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that declared gay marriage a constitutional right had no bearing on the validity of the claim.
