Nonprofits Are Corporations, 6th Circ. Holds In $9M Tax Suit
The Sixth Circuit on Wednesday denied a Michigan hospital group's bid for $9.1 million in additional tax refunds from the IRS, rejecting the group's argument that it's entitled to a noncorporate interest rate with the finding that "new and old dictionaries" agree that nonprofits are corporations under the law.
