After DC Circ. Loss, Belize Wants Justices to Kill $25M Awards
Belize's government has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to kill two arbitral awards stemming from a canceled airport operating agreement and a backdoor tax deal, according to notices filed Friday, saying enforcing the awards in the U.S. would be an illegal end run around Belizean law and encourage corruption.

BCB Holdings Ltd. and Newco Ltd. asked the D.C. Circuit Thursday to deny Belize's request to pause enforcement proceedings involving two confirmed arbitration awards totaling nearly $25 million, plus interests and costs, stemming from a canceled airport operating agreement and a backdoor tax deal.

Circuit on Tuesday to collect roughly $32 million in arbitration awards over a canceled airport operating agreement and backdoor tax deal, telling the panel that both companies are using U.S. courts to attempt to evade Belizean taxes.
