Uber Technologies Inc. wants a suit lodged by a Boston cab driver in California federal court sent to arbitration, saying on Friday his proposed class action alleging the company violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act by running background checks without authorization was barred by an agreement the driver signed with the car service.

A Boston cabdriver hit Uber Technologies with a proposed class action on Monday, alleging that the mobile app-based car service routinely violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act by using background checks without applicants' knowledge or authorization to make hiring decisions.
