A former Chuck E. Cheese's manager's action claims against the restaurant chain's parent company for nonexempt work he alleged he had to perform and class action claims for failure to reimburse expenses were trimmed on Tuesday by a California federal judge, who threw out his attempt to claim civil penalties under the Private Attorney General Act.

A California federal court Wednesday denied class certification for general managers of Chuck E. Cheese's restaurants over claims they were forced to perform nonexempt work due to understaffing, but granted certification over claims they were not reimbursed for expenses.

Chuck E. Cheese's parent company CEC Entertainment Inc. on Friday asked a California federal court not to certify a putative class in a suit claiming general managers in Chuck E. Cheese's California restaurants are forced to perform non-exempt work due to understaffing, saying it didn't provide enough evidence to warrant certification.
