A Kentucky attorney who conspired with an administrative law judge and a psychologist to defraud Social Security of $550 million in disability payments pled guilty in federal court Friday for his role in the scheme, according to a U.S. Department of Justice announcement.

A clinical psychologist was never offered immunity for testifying before a grand jury about a $600 million Social Security fraud scheme, nor was his indictment tactically delayed in the hopes his patients would die, the U.S. Department of Justice said Monday in urging a Kentucky federal court to uphold the charges.
