A federal judge on Tuesday ordered a group of New York City Chinese restaurants to pay over $616,000 in unpaid wages to a group of workers, following a jury's finding in March that the restaurants had not paid overtime or minimum wages in violation of federal and state laws.

The Second Circuit is scheduled this week to consider a former New York parole officer's lawsuit claiming she was forced out of her position in retaliation for filing two suits alleging safety issues at the state corrections department.
