Nassau County, New York, has struck a $2.3 million deal to resolve three lawsuits brought by mostly female police dispatch operators alleging they were denied overtime opportunities and certain mileage reimbursements unlike their mostly male fire department counterparts.

A New York federal court granted class treatment to about 250 police dispatch operators in Nassau County who claimed in a federal discrimination lawsuit that their mostly female department faced more stringent overtime policies and stricter rules than a mostly male fire communications team.
