Mallinckrodt ARD LLC has agreed to pay $260 million to resolve government allegations that it underpaid Medicaid rebates for its Acthar gel products and paid illegal kickbacks to induce Medicare patients to buy its drugs, the U.S. Department of Justice said Monday.

The U.S. Department of Justice has finalized an agreement in Pennsylvania federal court with Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals to pay $15.4 million to end a federal probe into alleged "wine and dine" tactics used to market a drug to doctors, the DOJ said Wednesday.

The federal government claimed Wednesday that Mallinckrodt used a charitable foundation to pay kickbacks to improperly boost the prices of its anti-seizure drug H.P. Acthar Gel, joining a pair of whistleblower suits that similarly claim the company paid doctors to promote the drug.
