An ex-official for the Northwest Carpenters Union can't walk away from allegations that she had a hand in rigging union elections, a Washington federal judge ruled Tuesday, saying the claims against her are backed by enough evidence.

The Northwest Carpenters Union urged a Washington federal judge to reject an ex-union official's attempt to escape claims that he rigged votes on a labor contract, saying none of his arguments "come close to meeting the standard for dismissal, especially at this early stage."

The Northwest Carpenters Union has accused its former organizing director of attempting to rig a contract ratification vote in a new lawsuit filed in Washington federal court, saying he submitted fake votes on behalf of members who hadn't voted.
