The Second Circuit won't allow a mother to substitute herself as the plaintiff in her deceased daughter's lawsuit accusing a real estate advising company of failing to pay her several weeks' worth of wages, dismissing the appeal altogether on Tuesday.

The Second Circuit is hearing arguments Friday in a bid from a cleaning services company to reverse a district court's decision to lift a stay in proceedings for one workers' misclassification claims. The worker, Quincy Reeves, alleged Coverall North America misclassified him as an independent contractor and owed him wages under Connecticut law.
