An Indiana federal judge tossed an incarcerated worker's minimum wage claims against a call center operator contracted with the state prison system, saying that although the call center was a private company, inmates in its employ are not considered employees entitled to minimum wage protections.

A call center operator that contracts with the Indiana state prison system to acquire inmate labor urged an Indiana federal court to dismiss a prisoner's claims for minimum wages, arguing that prisoners are not employees and that it provides its workers with a service.
