An International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local asked to be dropped as a defendant from a lawsuit alleging a member was pushed out of an apprenticeship program after reporting racism, telling a New Jersey federal judge the member lacks the right to sue the local.

A former member of an apprenticeship program for union electricians sued the program and his International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local in New Jersey federal court, saying he was pushed out of the program after he reported experiences of racism on the job.
