Thirty-one states and the District of Columbia have legalized the medical use of marijuana, and 10 states as well as the District of Columbia have legalized recreational use of marijuana. It's widely estimated that in the United States, this industry with an estimated $11 billion in 2018 revenue will grow to as much as $75 billion by 2030.[1] As cannabis products become mainstream, there is a question as to whether cannabis companies will use tools of traditional biotechnology companies to respond to competition. Recent developments suggest that cannabis companies will leverage patent disputes and U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulatory action to hold or expand terrain in this developing area....
