Law360, New York ( November 27, 2013, 5:55 PM EST) -- In 2014, the entire world will have its eyes on Brazil. While the country hosts the World Cup and expedites preparations for the 2016 Olympics, in-house lawyers have a different reason to take note. The upcoming year also marks the country's enactment of its anti-corruption law, which takes effect at the end of January. For in-house counsel doing business in the sixth-largest economy in the world, the law will increase and intensify the precautions their companies need to take to remain compliant in Brazil. Taking stock of this entirely new anti-bribery law also serves as a good opportunity for corporate counsel to renew their focus on the myriad other global compliance issues deserving attention in the upcoming new year. . . .
