Law360, New York ( May 13, 2015, 12:15 PM EDT) -- Since their introduction in 2007, electronic cigarettes have gained widespread popularity as an alternative to traditional tobacco cigarettes, with hundreds of millions of these devices expected to be imported by the U.S. in 2015. While traditional cigarettes use burning tobacco to create smoke that is inhaled, e-cigarettes heat a liquid gel that typically contains nicotine, flavors, additives and propylene glycol. The heated liquid forms an aerosol vapor that is inhaled by the user. The majority of imported e-cigarettes are from China, where most of these devices are manufactured without any regulations or safety standards. E-cigarettes are marketed as a safer alternative to tobacco cigarettes, but new concerns about their safety are coming to light....
