Abbassi, the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners issued an order reciting that it had received "information evidencing that" Abbassi, a New Jersey anesthesiologist and pain management specialist, violated that board's sexual misconduct regulation, N.J.A.C. 13:35-6.3, with respect to his patient, Ms. M. B., during the first six months of 2015. After reciting that Abbassi "denies that he engaged in such behavior," the board order of Oct. 7, 2016, went on to state that the parties "being desirous of resolving this matter without the institution of a formal disciplinary proceeding," were settling the matter by a voluntary surrender of his license "to be deemed a permanent revocation of his license."[1]...
