Objections Can't Sink $40M Airline Price-Fixing MDL Deal
The California federal judge overseeing passengers' antitrust claims in multidistrict litigation against Societie Air France and other airlines gave final approval Friday to their $39.5 million settlement, overruling objections but saying he'd take a closer look at a last-minute bid for an additional $1 million for plaintiffs' attorneys.

Qantas, Singapore Air Pay $9.8M To Exit Antitrust Action
Qantas Airways Ltd. and Singapore Airlines Ltd. have agreed to pay a total of $9.75 million to settle an antitrust class action accusing the carriers of conspiring to fix rates for passenger fares on transpacific flights, according to court papers filed in California federal court Tuesday.

Airlines Say Antitrust MDL Barred By Filed-Rate Doctrine
Air New Zealand and four other airlines on Friday urged a California federal judge to throw out a long-running antitrust MDL in which customers accused them of price-fixing travel costs, arguing that the claims are barred because the U.S. Department of Transportation oversees the airlines' fares and surcharges.

Air New Zealand Ltd. asked a California federal court on Thursday to grant summary judgment in its favor on all claims in a multidistrict litigation where a putative class is accusing it of unlawfully fixing prices on passenger fares and surcharges, arguing that the remaining damage claims are barred by the filed rate doctrine.
