Oil Co. To Pay US, Calif. $65M Over Spills, Cleanup Costs
The U.S. Department of Justice announced Monday that a California federal judge has ordered an oil company to pay $65 million in fines over 12 oil spills in federal waters as the result of its negligence in a "pattern of reckless disregard."

Judge Keeps Alive CWA Suit Over 20 Calif. Oil Spills
A California federal judge on Friday refused to throw out a Clean Water Act suit against energy company HVI Cat Canyon Inc. over 20 separate spills sending oil into the U.S. waters, ruling that the CWA can be applied in the area where the oil was released.
