A California federal judge on Thursday granted Ford Motor Co.'s bid to transfer to Michigan a suit alleging the auto giant ripped off Signal IP's car safety technology, saying the Eastern District of Michigan is a more appropriate choice since at least 16 of Ford's potential witnesses live in the district.

Patent Co. Fights Ford's Bid To Transfer Safety IP Row
Signal IP Inc. on Friday urged a California federal judge to nix Ford Motor Co.'s bid to transfer to Michigan a suit accusing Ford of infringing car safety technology, arguing the patent holder has filed 13 similar suits against different automakers in California court, making it "highly inefficient" for separate courts to rule the same issues.
