6th Circ. Vacates $30M Blue Cross Antitrust Settlement
The Sixth Circuit on Tuesday vacated a $30 million settlement resolving class action claims that a Blue Cross Blue Shield subsidiary flouted antitrust laws by fixing insurance prices, finding that the district court improperly sealed documents that class members needed to determine if the deal was fair.

A Blue Cross Blue Shield subsidiary defended a $30 million deal to resolve class action claims that the company violated antitrust laws by using most-favored-nation clauses in its contracts Wednesday, telling the Sixth Circuit that the self-insured businesses challenging the deal haven't shown that the amount isn't adequate.

Businesses Tell 6th Circ. $30M Blue Cross Deal Isn't Enough
A group of small businesses covering thousands of Michigan residents has called a $30 million class settlement agreed to by a Blue Cross Blue Shield subsidiary "woefully inadequate," telling the Sixth Circuit that millions across the state were harmed by anti-competitive clauses entered into between the insurer and local hospitals.
