4th Circ. Upholds $5M Coverage Cap For Legal Mal Award
The Fourth Circuit on Monday affirmed that Protostorm Inc. can only tap $5 million in coverage under a Virginia law firm's legal malpractice policy to cover part of an $8 million award the tech company obtained against the firm for botching its online game patent, agreeing with a lower court that the malpractice predated a coverage increase.

Protostorm Inc. urged the Fourth Circuit to find that $10 million in legal malpractice insurance coverage is available for an award the tech company obtained against a Virginia law firm for botching its online game patent, asserting Tuesday that a federal judge wrongly limited coverage to $5 million.
