An Illinois federal court went too far when it granted the Federal Trade Commission a $5.2 million judgment against a credit-monitoring company it said had tricked consumers, the company told the Seventh Circuit Wednesday, arguing the agency can only seek injunctive relief over the alleged wrongdoing.
