CORRECTED: Judge Says Calif. Prison Ban Can't Block Marshals Service
A California federal judge tentatively ruled Thursday that the state shouldn't be allowed to prevent the U.S. Marshals Service from hiring private contractors to run its detention facilities, concluding that federal law permits the agency to hire private operators. Correction: A previous version of this article mischaracterized the scope of the judge’s ruling. The error has been corrected.
