Law360, New York ( January 7, 2015, 11:24 AM EST) -- Although there were many groundbreaking and history-making events in 2014 for the LGBT community, one of the most significant potential protections of LGBT rights in the workplace is still not law. I'm talking about the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would provide federal statutory protections against workplace discrimination by most private and public employers on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. There have been the proverbial crickets in the House of Representatives for over a year since its landmark passage by the Senate on Nov. 7, 2013 — the final count was 64-32. It has been reported that House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, has refused to bring the bill up for a vote. Accordingly, there remains no federal law that explicitly protects LGBT individuals from employment discrimination....
