By Chelsea Naso ( June 11, 2014, 4:40 PM EDT) -- Siemens AG reportedly joined forces with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. to plan a joint bid for Alstom SA's energy assets, setting the stage for the German and Japanese industrial conglomerates to face off against U.S.-based General Electric Co., which already offered $16.9 billion for the business, the Financial Times said Wednesday. A joint bid is believed to be less likely to draw insurmountable objections from European regulators, the report said....
