By Karlee Weinmann ( May 9, 2013, 1:38 PM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. has offered $1 billion to round out its Nook Media LLC holdings in a deal that would buy out Barnes & Noble Inc.'s stake in the digital book and college bookstore joint venture's digital assets, TechCruch reported late Wednesday. Microsoft already owns a hefty chunk of the business, which is built on its namesake e-reader device, as well as e-book and tablet offerings. It remained unclear whether the bookseller had responded to Microsoft's bid, or whether it would consider the proposal at all. Barnes & Noble shares soared on news of the prospective transaction, shooting up about 20 percent in early Thursday trading....
