Deals Rumor Mill: Yahoo, Bank of Nova Scotia, Shutterfly
By Benjamin Horney ( February 23, 2016, 5:19 PM EST) -- Time Inc. could throw its hat into the ring of suitors for Yahoo Inc., according to a report from Bloomberg on Tuesday, as the company recently listened to a pitch from Citigroup Inc. bankers on why such a deal may be in its best interests. According to the report, Time CEO Joe Ripp has shown real interest in a deal, which could likely come in the form of a tax-efficient "Reverse Morris Trust," or a deal in which one company merges with a newly spun off subsidiary. The news comes just one day after reports named Verizon Communications Inc., Comcast Corp. and AT&T Inc., along with private equity firms Bain Capital LP, KKR & Co. LP and TPG Capital Management LP as potential bidders. First-round offers are not expected for at least another month, according to reports. Yahoo recently formed a committee to explore strategic alternatives after facing pressure from shareholders, including activist investor Starboard Value LP....
