By Benjamin Horney ( April 18, 2016, 6:43 PM EDT) -- AstraZeneca PLC is considering making a play for Medivation Inc., a San Francisco-based biopharmaceutical firm focused on developing drugs that treat cancer, according to a Sunday report from Reuters. According to the report, which cited the Sunday Times, AstraZeneca has held internal talks and has been mulling whether to bid for the company for about six months, but has not yet made a formal offer. Reports late last month said Medivation had tapped JP Morgan Chase & Co. to act as an adviser as the company fielded interest from suitors. Though Medivation does not intend to sell itself, the company has been approached a number of times during early 2016, according to reports. Medivation has a market capitalization of around $6.1 billion, and Sanofi SA and Roche Holding AG have been named as other potentially interested parties. ...
