Judge Orders Cooperation In GM Ignition Switch MDL
A New York federal judge on Wednesday ordered General Motors LLC and plaintiffs to work together to coordinate discovery in the multidistrict litigation over GM's deadly ignition switch defect, saying a joint effort would help ensure an "efficient and speedy resolution" of the case.

General Motors LLC on Wednesday urged a New York federal judge to enter a gatekeeping order to maintain coordination in the multidistrict litigation over its deadly ignition switch defect, saying repeated court appearances by counsel in a Georgia state court action have obstructed GM's ability to comply with the discovery process.

GM Sued Over Pre-Bankruptcy Deaths, Injuries
General Motors was hit with a new suit Thursday in New York federal court by more than 150 plaintiffs suing over injuries and deaths that took place before the automaker entered into bankruptcy in 2009, claiming the "restrictive" terms of the GM victims' compensation fund prevents them from qualifying for payouts.
